Just to help you plan trips –
this may help! If you need help with maps– please ask us – also ask us for suggested routes around the villages
– we will try to help.
Tuesday or Saturday - Villeneuve Market – parking is not too difficult – just follow signs (large car park behind
the La Poste) , small charge for this but free between 12 – 2pm. Across
the river there is a small free car park on the left hand side of the road.
For lunch - find a suitable place in Villeneuve (we like Chez Caline –
see ‘places to eat’)or move on to Pujols (about 3km away and clearly sign-posted) and eat there. During the afternoon you can have a look around this very pretty village.
On your way back to Las Razes – just as you are approaching the outskirts of Penne D’Agenais you will see
a shop on the left hand-side of the road selling local food specialities; good to look around and buy gifts etc. (Usually a large sign board out with a duck on it!)
Tuesday Morning – Puy L’Eveque
market and then to Grezels for lunch at La Terrace then perhaps a visit to Domaine de Garinet to visit an independent vineyard
– English Spoken and visitors welcome – walnuts and prunes are also grown here.
Leaflet for this vineyard in this information pack. (Book for lunch at
this restaurant)
Sunday Morning - Montcuq market – walk up to the church and tower – splendid views - Lunch at one of the restaurants in Montcuq. Leave Montcuq towards St Cyprien – lovely scenic route. You could call in at Golf des Roucous – either to play – use the driving range – or just
have a coffee in the lovely friendly clubhouse. You could continue on to Castelnau
Montratier for a look around this lovely old village/town. Driving back to Las
Razes you could call in to Lauzerte and go up to the old medieval square for a beer/coffee at the bar ‘Le Puits de Jour’.
Saturday or Sunday morning –
Moissac market and then have lunch in one of the small restaurants around the Abbey.
After 2pm a visit to the museum and cloisters and the Abbey itself. If
you cross the canal and then just before you cross the River - turn left to the
riverside – park and walk along the river. An alternative for lunch is
the ‘Moulin’ large restaurant/hotel on the riverside – too large to miss.
Food good – not very cheap but reasonable –drinks though can be pricey –recommend this as an occasional
treat.
Penne D’Agenais (on the
road to Villeneuve) is worth having a good walk around – the streets around and up this village are steep, so best to
avoid the midday sunshine. There are many interesting architectural features
and splendid churches to view. The views from the top are stunning. There are a number of places to eat in the village. You could
combine this with a trip to Tournon D’Agenais – lunch could be arranged here at Le Beffroi – this is not a cheap option, but for a treat it is fine –
do book.
In July and August – on
Wednesdays you can visit the Lavander Distillerie de Servat – which is close to Montcuq – you could do this along
with lunch in Montcuq – a visit to the wonderful bathing lake or if you are interested in antiques a visit to Chateau
de Gayrac (details of both attractions in the information file in the dinning-room).
The lake at Montaigu makes a wonderful
(nearby) excursion - you can park the car and swim in the lake, sunbathe on the
beach or walk around the lake itself. Food and drink are available at the lakeside. During the high season when there are life guards on duty there may be a small charge
for entering – but this is well worth paying. Ideal for children –
plenty of play areas and picnic tables.
